Re: “The Doctors Are Out

Perhaps if more doctors were actually concerned about the well-being of their patients rather than how much money goes in their pocket, patients would be less likely to file malpractice suits.

I applaud Dr. Leonard Ditmanson for considering closing up shop. I hope he does for the welfare of his patients and the well-being of our medical community. And I sincerely hope many more follow in his footsteps.

Why would any patient knowingly put their life in the hands of a physician who's primary concern is how much money he brings home?

Unfortunately, here in Arizona we have an abundance of physicians who really have no business practicing medicine.
An abundance of greedy, spoiled, egocentric doctors does not make a healthy medical community.

I am the husband of a woman with stage 3 heart failure.
I would honestly prefer to see just one really good doctor to every hundred who've trashed their oaths, morals, ethics, and concern for patients to make their house payments.

Those hundred doctors are the problem. They shouldn't be practicing medicine in the first place. Big income is not an appropriate motivation for becoming a doctor, and a big house payment is not appropriate reason to remain in the profession.

Close up shop doctors.... Please.... For the sake of your patients, for the sake of your colleagues who actually give a darn and still consider their oath "sacred".

If acquisition of wealth, or fear of losing it is your concern, it's time for a new profession.
