Thank you Mr. Banks for another informative article.

We in NM are about to see a similar situation created for us by our Congressional Delegation. Senator Bingaman has introduced S. 1689, which would designate a quarter of a million acres of BLM land on or near the border as Wilderness. Wilderness means no vehicular access for the Border Patrol except for emergencies. Where the BP can now patrol on a routine basis they will be prohibited from doing so if this legislation passes. The National Association of Former Border Patrol officers says this legislation would create a "perfect corridor" for the movement of illegal aliens and drugs, and the entry of terrorists. Ron Arnold had an excellent article about this in Friday's Washington Examiner http://tinyurl.com/26vlmf2.

Arizona residents should be asking Senator McCain why he voted for this bill in committee. S. 1689 will make it near impossible to secure the Border in this area. Is he for Border Security or not?

The bill hasn't passed the Senate. The media reports that Senator Bingaman is trying to put together an Omnibus Public Lands Bill that will include S. 1689 and ram it through during the lame duck session. Senator McCain should oppose this "log rolling" tactic so the recent elections count for something. We have a new Congressman and Governor who will oppose the bill once in office.

Please tell McCain to oppose any Omnibus Public Lands bill during the remainder of the lame duck session.
