Rated NR

Written, directed and starred in by Nanni Moretti, this film is split into two parts ... like the pitiably wretched heart of every remaining member of that poor, poor family after one member is sacrificed to the merciless god of tragedy. The first half of the film is devoted to letting the viewer get to know the wonderfully middle class, happy (if a bit banal), suntanned nuclear unit that will mourn, wail and generally lose it for most of the second half. Not that humans don’t need to be aware of this type of experience once in a while, but I think it’s only fair to warn you, reader, that if you bop into that theater feeling swell, you will leave it feeling like hell. So save this one for your own personal death and dying workshop.
