The People vs. George Lucas

A funny and extensive documentary about fanaticism, obsession and action figures, this is a must-see for fans and haters of all things Lucas. Fans, critics and just plain geeks are interviewed about their feelings regarding the likes of Jar Jar Binks, Greedo shooting first, the special editions, Darth Vader screaming “Noooooooo!” at the end of Sith, Jabba’s tail getting stepped upon, The Phantom Menace, Indiana Jones surviving a nuclear blast in a refrigerator, the Star Wars Christmas Special … you get the idea. While I am not a prequel hater and I found plenty to enjoy in the last Indiana Jones film, some of the geeks in this film make some compelling arguments for why those movies suck wookie turds. The film also includes clips of fan films parodying Lucas works, and they can be quite entertaining. Some of these guys saying Lucas raped their childhood are taking it a little far, but I find them amusing.
