The Matrix Revolutions

After such a promising start, The Matrix series comes to its supposed conclusion with this super turd of a movie. Relentlessly boring, hackneyed and horribly acted, the only saving graces in this third Matrix installment are some stellar battle scenes and a nice-looking showdown between Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith. The Wachowski brothers, writers and directors of this slop, can’t just let anything just happen. All events must be prefaced by boring speeches, and then followed by even more boring speeches about what just happened. It’s highly frustrating stuff, and some decent effects shots don’t save them this time out, as this film qualifies as being worse than its disappointing predecessor, Reloaded. Reeves, so good in the first two films, finally gives in to his dullard reputation, phoning in a blasé performance. Massive letdown.
