The Last Kiss

Romantic comedies are usually dubbed “chick flicks.” This one goes against that stereotype, since all of the women in this flick get the short end of the stick. What chick wants to watch a movie like this? First, there’s the woman with a cheating beau (Zach Braff). Then there’s the irritating “other woman” who won’t take no for an answer. Plus, there’s an infant’s mother whose selfish man abandons her. And then there are countless one-night stands and shameless lesbians getting paid for sleazy bachelor-party entertainment. Acclaimed writer Paul Haggis adapts Gabriele Muccino’s film L’ultimo Baccio, which explores various stages of relationships. Although it won’t permanently tarnish Haggis’ stellar track record, it won’t help it, either.
