The Hunt

The wronged man is a staple in cinema and literature. Who better to fight the odds than someone who unwittingly has them all stacked against him? That’s Lukas (Mads Mikkelsen) in The Hunt. A recent divorcee down on his luck, Lukas is teaching at a kindergarten, where he is suddenly accused of molesting a student. In this small Danish town, word travels fast and Lukas becomes a pariah. But did anything really happen? If not, how will this man ever get his life and dignity back? The Hunt played at Cannes last year and Mikkelsen (the villain from the 007 flick Casino Royale) won Best Actor. He’s fascinating to watch from beginning to end, as is the work of director Thomas Vinterberg. It’s a movie that is very much in control, both of its narrative and the audience. One of the best of the year.

The Hunt is not showing in any theaters in the area.
