With a multitude of creative camera angles, whimsical special effects and adrenaline-fueled editing, actor-turned-director Bill Paxton makes a notable second outing behind the camera. The story is based on the true events of the 1913 U.S. Open; writer Mark Frost adapts his acclaimed book for this Disney production. Veteran Mouse House actor Shia LeBeouf plays Francis Ouimet, the amateur golfer who competes against seasoned champ Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane) in the prestigious tournament. Going against his fathers wishes and societys strict class boundaries, Ouimet relentlessly tees off alongside his endearing caddy, a 10-year-old going on 40 (Joshua Flitter). Despite the standard underdog formula, this family film inspires the dreamer in all of us to achieve the supposedly impossible.
