Comedy drama
Director Azazel Jacobs has concocted an adolescent-misery masterpiece with this, the story of Terri (Jacob Wysocki), an overweight teen living with his sick uncle in a ramshackle house in the woods. Terri is the butt of jokes at school, but he catches the eye of one official (John C. Reilly) who seems to care about his plight. Reilly has created another unforgettable character, a man who actually gives a damn about the forgotten and shunned kids. Wysocki, in the title role, is worth rooting for, as is Bridger Zadina as the anxious friend who pulls his own hair out. Olivia Crocicchia is perfection as a pretty girl with major issues and a big heart. This is an honest, compelling and funny movie, easily one of the summer’s best offerings.
