    Re: “Noisy Neighbor?
I came to Tucson in 1948. Just about the time the Air Force was established. You need to do your homework on the noise levels of the F-35. It can be 121 dB on take-off to the SE. This is a lot loader than anything you have heard in the past. I think that the D-M 50 is right in thinking about the future of a base in the middle of an urban area. It is only a matter of time until a developer buys the State Trust Land to SE of the base and D-M will be closed in on all four sides. It's time to think about lobbying for Federal money to buy this land and protect the base from closure. Another alternative might be moving some of high-performance jet training to the Gila Bend Air Force Auxillary Field.
There are answers, but calling people whiners just creates deadlock and a divided community.

I don't understand the UA's responsibility in all this. They are obviously spending their money on other things than needed student housing. The UA is providing the incentive to developers like Goodman to build these mimi-dorms. When students misbehave in the surrounding neighborhoods, do UA officials take responsibility and discipline the students or do they wash their hands of the problem they have created? Someone (Board of Regents?) had to decide to use funds for a Science center or for student housing.

    Re: “The Skinny
On the Ward 6 race, what about the Independents? How many are registered Independents in the City of Tucson and what influence will they have? Not many are happy with Nina.

Also, forget letting the present bunch work out ward-only or non-partisan elections. It has to be the State that mandates it or things will never change.
Recall that the City has a history of Democrat control. If you wanted a job with City, you had to be a registered Democrat.

This article is very sad, but probably true. The old-timers who have the time and the history will probably vote. The opponents should target this group. They are pretty fed up with Nina. A Republican might have a chance this time around.

Ward 6 Democrat Nina Trasoff: “I would have a very hard time voting for a budget with a rental tax, but I’m not willing to say ‘absolutely not,’ because I have to look at where else you can get money.”

Who says she talks out of both sides of her mouth.

Nina, just can't face cutting off her artists. She has gotten down to taxing renters who already pay taxes passed on by their landlords.

    Time for Nina to go.
