Who knew that gymnastics can placate the wild child and offer opportunities for life-affirming realizations? Apparently writer/director Jessica Bendinger did. The so-energetic-shes-engaging Missy Peregrym stars as a tomboy teen and social pariah from a dysfunctional family who is sentenced to return to her acrobatic roots after breaking the law one time too many. Reluctant to do another cartwheel after choking at the championships, the trouble-making tough girl succumbs to the standard inspirational tutelage of a has-been coach (Jeff Bridges). Along the way, she unites the team, too. Although this by-the-book sports flick is essentially a gymnastics version of Bring It Onalso written by Bendingerthe rapid music-video pace provides an extreme-sports feel for todays ADD audience.
