Oregon tried that. The voters passed a proposition putting a larger tax liability on those making 250k or more in 2009.

    Compare this:

Since Paton is privately funded, it also means that taxpayers were not on the hook for his travels.

OK, let's have Obama wave the magic wand and "ban offshore drilling."

What is the Messiah gonna do about all the offshore rigs outside our territorial waters? Is he going to send the SEALs to kill a bunch of Malaysians, Chinese, or Venezuelans (actually it would be kind of cool to see the reaction Chavez would have to that), etc?

At least with offshore rigs in our territorial waters, we've got some amount of control over their activities.

At Renee is starting to see the big picture on this one.

"Yeah, isn't that what Brian Miller said at the debate and people booed him? When all is said and done, I think this primary is a fight between Paton and Miller."

    Um, no, not quite.

I was at the debate, and folks booed Miller because he used the "final statements" phase at the end of the debate to bash both Paton and Kelly, neither of which had any chance to rebuke those statements since they had already given their final remarks.

It may have been "legal" for him to do that, but it was rude and struck me as desperate. I'll also note that he spent most of the time slamming Paton, with only a few moments devoted to Kelly's usage of stimulus money. Apparently, he knows who the real front-runner is, and it ain't Kelly.
