Step Up 2 the Streets
Freestyle dancing to a pulsing hip-hop soundtrack takes center stage in this energized sequel to the 2006 hit. Thanks to the energy, screenwriters Toni Ann Johnson and Karen Barna can get away with a lame and formulaic plot, featuring a rebellious teen starting her own ragtag dance crew at Maryland’s School of the Arts in order to battle her former crew in the ultimate dance-off. The actors—even lead actress Briana Evigan, with her Demi Moore-like voice and exposed midriff—can sneak by with emotionless one-liners since their fancy footwork always impresses.
