Not that anyone really needs an excuse to eat ice cream, but if you want one you are set for the entire month of July: It's National Ice Cream Month. Maynard's Market, 400 N. Toole Ave., has got your sweet tooth covered Saturday, July 11 with a combination of dessert and competition. The 2nd annual Ice Cream Showdown is an open competition for locally-based creameries in Arizona from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will determine the winners of Best Overall Ice Cream, Most Inventive and Kids' Choice. Tickets are $10 each, which allows you to taste 10 ice creams, and additional tasting tickets can be purchased for $1. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Ben's Bells.
