The longtime coffee shop, located on Speedway just east of Alvernon, offers unique iced coffee drinks for those who prefer their go-go juice cold. The Tar Heel, which is basically an iced coffee with condensed milk and other sugary extracts, will leave you humming for hours in the best way possible. The ambiance of the joint itself is pretty neat, with a spiraling staircase in the middle and some nice cushioned seats where you can sit and do homework or real work. Black Crown is definitely worth your time, if you find yourself in midtown with a killer caffeine hangover.
