Re: “McSally Silent on Roy Moore Accusations

Martha has repeatedly shown that she is not the same person that she was in the military.

She's flying high above any responsibility to her constituents on the ground and her moral compass is FUBAR.

She's got missile-lock on the money and if some of us are collateral damage -- oh well.

Re: “Flake: "Mr. President, I Rise Today To Say, 'Enough'"

"Cowardice asks: Is it safe? Expediency asks: Is it politic? But Conscience asks: Is it right?"
--William Punshon

Unfortunately, for America and the world too many in Washington, from both sides of the aisle, are more concerned for their own political power and amassing of personal wealth.

As a tribute to the basest form of capitalism, we have been sold to the highest bidder and the dreams of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans are slipping away.

It was not the barbarians at the gates we needed to fear, but the barbarians that were "elected" to office.

Re: “The Skinny

Political races are so much easier now.

Used to, we had to pay attention to the candidates and the party platforms and a myriad of other factors in making our decisions.

Now, it is all boiled down to who can raise the most money, which is appropriate since nothing -- absolutely nothing -- matters anymore, not the candidates, not the issues, not ethics, not the future, just the money.

Too bad there is not the same level of outrage over what our so-called representative government has become as there is about the latest news out of Hollywood; After all, they both concern someone with wealth and power f-ing over anyone they want with impunity.

Re: “It's 'Tucson Unified' Now

Since the district has and is already spending the money to re-brand itself, how about a name that says it all, to the parents, the students and the teachers who are actually trying to make a difference.

Instead of Tucson Unified -- which sounds like a British Football Club -- I give you the succinct "TUC U!"

Re: “Trump Ends DACA Program, Leaves DREAMers Facing Deportation

Why do people keep expecting anything else to come from the current president?

I understand that some thought if his inner circle of advisers were stripped away that there might be a chance of restoring some semblance of order to the office, but that did not happen. He continues to play to his political base -- and baser instincts -- regardless of the consequences.

If anything, it is more apparent than ever that this man has an agenda to systematically dismantle the accomplishments of the previous administration for better or worse.

The answer to the real question that will reveal the true nature of this president -- is he undoing everything the previous president did because it is right for the country, or is he undoing it because a black man touched it.

Re: “Storm Warnings

As a species, we are standing in the middle of the road waiting for those with wealth and power to make a decision about the "reality" of the quickly approaching semi-truck that is climate change.

We can all see the semi-truck by now, feel the rumble as more and more severe weather shakes the ground, but some doubt its existence and attribute its approach to politically-motivated alarmist bent on disturbing the status quo of living in the middle of the road.

After all, as a species, we have been living in the middle of the road for ages, and with a few exceptions of semi-trucks carrying ice ages and mass extinctions back when the middle of the road was just dirt and inhabited by dumb animals, a semi-truck has never hit us before, what make you think it will hit us this time?

Science! Phish posh. Science is nothing more than the collective opinions of people with too much education and not enough experience in the noble fields of business and politics.

Trust the politicians and business people, and if they are wrong -- well there will not be any one left to tell them and that is a win-win.

Re: “Dreamers #HereToStay

Fear: fear of the unknown and fear of change.

Fear has become the driving force used by nearly everyone, regardless of political leanings. This constant and corrosive tactic has reduced people's ability to use critical thinking to determine underlying threats to our collective liberties and freedoms.

Fear invokes the fight or flight instinct in humans and the results cannot always be predictable, but for some, this disruption is all that is necessary to further their agendas of hate and violence.

We need to stop listening to the rhetoric and focus on actions; actions of our elected representatives and actions of those we are told to fear.

Yes, the world can be a scary place and there are evil people intent upon our destruction, but knowing who those people really are is the first step in defending ourselves from being used in our own destruction as a nation and as a people.

"Entre los individuos, como entre las naciones, el respeto al derecho ajeno es la Paz."
-- Benito Juarez Garcia
(Among the individuals, as well as among nations, respecting the other people's rights leads to peace.)
