Re: “Funeral Protest Ban Passes Arizona Senate

Unfortunately, this law is probably unconstitutional. As vile as this Topeka group is, they are still protected against governmental restrictions on speech.

Re: “The Skinny

I've expected this meme about the shooting. Ms. Proud is wrong on several fronts. First, the guy is crazy and probably expected to be killed or to kill himself, we already have a concealed gun law, how did he not know there was someone at the shopping center with a gun? Second, it takes what, 10 seconds to empty a Glock with an extended magazine? Less? There was no time to react and when he reached to reload brave people reacted fast. Third, how is anyone going to shoot a person in a crowd scene? Does a civilian have the skills to do this without shooting someone else? I think not. The shooter could of stabbed Gabby with a knife, yes, but wouldn't by any means caused the amount of slaughter he did with a gun. Sure, guns and 2nd amendment, fine, but these 'reasoned' ideas of Ms. Proud and others are not only wrong but they are dangerous.

Re: “Welcome to New Mexico

I'm sure New Mexico will prosper because of it.

Note to the reptilian brain above: You can't criminalize people because you don't like them, it's not the American way.

Re: “Serraglio

I find the new downtown Saturdays a kind of formless mess. Congress should be closed down, permanently. If they had done this twenty years ago it would of sparked development east, down Broadway and north, down Stone like it did in Boulder. At the moment there is no way to go east-west through downtown on a bike without risking one's life. Even walking can be hazardous as traffic tries to push through Congress. Last SSD I got tired of high-pressure vendors trying to sell me things I didn't want so I left. I live downtown and have seen this stuff come and go. The arts district era was the most interesting and fun but that's all dead now.

Re: “The Skinny

I like the train whistles, one reason why I live downtown.

Re: “The Krentz Bonfire

Excuse me for being cynical but what with the deaths of tens of thousands of Mexicans in the border narco wars, the deaths of thousands of crossers to the desert and the rape and/or murder of hundreds of women crossers ... what is the big deal about the death of one white rancher? Oh, yeah. He's not a Mexican. If people were serious about this they'd be going after the human traffickers. Specifically. I would also wonder about the level of corruption on this side of the border, not only the border patrol but Cochise County. Good police work comes from good intelligence. So how is the further criminalization of 1/2 million people going to help anything? What it helps is Gov Brewer getting the Republication nomination. Every solution to our border in the last 30 years has only made the problem worse, not better.

btw Mr. Banks - you can make snarky comments about liberals but I know many that own guns. Just shows where your agenda is.
