Great writing as usual. It gives hope and optimism for the future, and that's what we need now in these troubled times.
Great writing! I really enjoyed it!
Well written as usual Brian. I loved it.
Great writing! I can relate to the feelings that wandering the streets of Tucson can bring about. And I used to live in that same neighborhood along Alvernon Way. And every time it'd rain, it would become Alvernon Wash. What is an Alvernon anyway?
I remember Howie very well from his days with the Phantom Limbs. And also from his fanzine called "Slit" that he wrote and produced. I remember once he said in his zine that Jeff from the Limbs resembled something like a cross between Elvis Costello and a penguin! He always had a smile on his face and was a very nice and humble guy. R.I.P Hopwie, you will be missed.
I knew Michael off and on for many years, and saw him play in various different bands over those years and was always amazed by his guitar playing. He put something into it that few are able to do. He was also such a gentle and kind man. I remember talking to him at a show at the Rialto not too long ago, and he told me he remembered the guitar and the amp I was playing at a gig I had done and that he had attended many years before (at the Route 66 Bar, of all places). He had that much attention to detail, and he was one of the most generous and nicest people I've ever know. He will be missed by so many in the Tucson music community, for he was genuine, a true gentleman and a very special spirit.
R.I.P Michael, we loved you, man.

Very well said, Sed. I think I was at Tumbleweeds that night. You describe the energy of the place and of the man's music perfectly. Thanks
