We're in the market for a new, local freelance film reviewer.
James DiGiovanna—who has won Arizona Press Club honors as the state's top film/video/TV critic for three years in a row—is cutting back on the number of reviews he does (but never fear; he'll still contribute), so we're looking for someone to supplement the fine work that he and Bob Grimm do for us in the Cinema section.
A heads-up to all would-be applicants: We feel we have the best newspaper Cinema section in the state, so we're going to be awfully picky. The ideal candidate needs to know a lot about movies and their history; be a fantastic writer, with the ability to be both funny and intellectual; and be able to attend the necessary local screenings (which are usually at night).

• In other news: Jim Nintzel, Nick Smith and I spent a good chunk of the previous week in the San Francisco Bay area, at two back-to-back conferences that focused on the Internet, the future, and where alternative newsweeklies like the Tucson Weekly fit in to all of that.
