Re: “Hidden Agenda?

Yeah, we get around that much time for lunch. They can't do it then either because they have other stuff that they have to do. It's the student's responsibility to remember to bring their backpack, lunch, etc to school. And parents are perfectly able to call their children themselves to tell them that they have things in the office that they can pick up during passing periods/lunch.

I haven't heard anything about the school not notifying parents/authorities about bullying, harassment, students harming themselves or others, etc.

I would really love to know where you're getting all of this information from... :P

To Ex SSA Parent:

Yes, that's true. It's just so it doesn't interrupt class. If they made an announcement for every student that forgot their backpack, calculator, lunch, whatever, we would never get anything done.

Re: “Hidden Agenda?

I currently attend SSA (and have been for several years) and have never heard any of my Turkish teachers even mention anything about the Armenian genocide. Islam, religion, and politics in general are rarely talked about. In fact, most of them seem to try to avoid those topics. In all honesty, I have never felt like they were trying to impose their ideas and opinions on me in any way. How would they be brainwashing us if they don't even discuss these things with us? It doesn't make any sense. Also, I've been to (and have competed in) a few of the olympiads held at Pacifica Institute. SSA competes in them because a lot of students are in Turkish classes, not because they're plotting to brainwash us all. It's a learning experience; a chance to practice the language and maybe even win something. And of course SSA and Pacifica are connected, but not in a weird creepy evil plot-ish way. A lot of the people who work at Pacifica are friends with teachers at SSA(either from back in Turkey or just meeting during the olympiads). So in the end, the parents are obviously overreacting and being oversuspicious and crazy and there's no real proof provided in this article.
