Re: “Mailbag

a pedestrian only 4th avenue would be sweet! But in regards to the wheelchair access to the co-op, would it be much worse to have to park in the reserved spot on 7th st. right around the corner? I mean, I don't know, I have no idea what its like to be confined to a wheelchair. But, as it is there are so many cars on 4th avenue there is hardly ever a spot in front of the co-op anyway. I think Matt's suggestion was meant to encompass disabled people as well as a large group of other people, especially considering how crazy it gets to cross fourth avenue in the afternoon and evening. Personally I would love to see this happen considering I just had a baby and people still don't stop for us in the crosswalk, they are oblivious, careening their heads around at the shops on 4th while driving pretty fast instead of watching the F*$%ing road. It would be a blessing to a lot of people if 4th was a pedestrian only street, with a good portion of the closest spots to the avenue reserved for disabled folks that is.

Re: “Neighborhood Negligence?

Yeah I grew up around Grant and Alvernon. Big whoop! I now live across that street from this trash hole and Grant/Alvernon neighborhood IS Wisteria Lane compared to this. You have no idea what it is like having a group of 50+ unstable men living across the street gettin hammered, dealin drugs and seriously unabashedly intimidating people. My neighbors a block away have been broken in to 3 TIMES in the past 6 months- one of those times she was in her bed sleeping, not only Lila's story of her bike being found at Lyons' place, but two other of my neighbors. Not to mention the beer cans being thrown over their neighbors fence (who also happen to be my friends) constantly. Not to mention my other neighbor who had one of Lyons' tenants show her his junk while leaving her house for her early morning walk with her dog. that shit about there being a curfew and no drugs or drinking is complete lies. I see them doing both drinking and drugs and coming in at all hours of the night. I suppose we will just scrape up whatever money we can to try to move with our newborn son to a neighborhood that doesnt have a facility that makes money off of irresponsibly housing criminals.
ps- one of the latest residents added to the facility is a child rapist...8 year old girls..so the sex offender alert post card stated that I got in the mail 3 weeks ago. real nice.
