REALLY SPECIAL TACO SPECIAL

A great free show featuring under-the-radar local acts is only one reason to head to Funporium nights at La Cocina. If you're not a music junkie, consider the taco special. The weekly changing offering dreamt up by Kyle Araishi, who mans the grill, is something inventive and totally delicious.

Taking some liberties with fusion, the chimichurri tacos, kimchi tacos, and more are well worth the $3 price tag. Plus, they pair rather well with the varied list of local, seasonal brews on tap at La Cocina. You can try the taco specials for yourself by heading to La Cocina Thursday nights from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.

SAVE THE SEASON

Mexico in Season has carved out a place in the hearts of Tucsonans looking for vegan Mexican cuisine in a fast, casual and friendly atmosphere. However, now the family-owned restaurant, which is known for options like nopalitos and seitan fajitas, might be forced to shutter so they've looked to Kickstarter and their loyal customers for help. Owner Priscilla Teran says community support wasn't the issue for her one-year-old restaurant located at on the southwest corner of Ajo Way and Palo Verde Road.

"The business is doing good and our clientele keeps growing, but we lost our partner and now we are faced with the decision of closing our doors," Teran says.

Since Kickstarter is an all or nothing fundraiser, either Mexico in Season gets $25,000 or nothing by the end of it. If Teran doesn't find an investor or partner for Mexico in Season, she says she still plans to offer her fare to her loyal customers by using the Kickstarter funds to purchase a food truck. You can help keep Mexico in Season pumping out those unique Mexican eats by visiting their Kickstarter campaign page, which you can find on TW's Chow blog online.

WHAT DO WE WANT? BEER! WHERE DO WE WANT IT? TUCSON!

The Arizona Craft Brewers Guild and local breweries, like Dragoon, have been soliciting Facebook followers and fans to sign a petition for the Arizona Beer Bill. The bill is looking to increase the current production limit placed on brewers so Arizona beer makers can try to compete with other breweries nationally. 

"The current microbrewery limits should be refined to reflect the incredible growth of this industry and the enormously positive economic impact of microbreweries," according to a statement from the Arizona Beer Bill's supporters. "The Arizona Beer Bill ensures that microbreweries will not be penalized for their success."

If you're interested in signing, you can view the petition online at www.azbeerbill.com. Initial voting on the bill is likely to occur in late January or early February, according to the bill's website.
