Prom Night
This stalk-and-slash “horror” flick is heavy on stalk, but light on slash, in order to earn a PG-13 rating and a teen target audience. Three years ago, a high school girl (Brittany Snow) came home to find her family murdered; now, a twisted school teacher has escaped from the psych ward to renew his sadistic rampage and indulge his obsession with the student. Similar in name only to its 1980 predecessor (starring Jamie Lee Curtis), this hackneyed drivel offers one-liners that will make viewers’ eyes roll, and completely lacks a stylistic punch or pizzazz.
