Wrong way walker

After being seen walking with traffic on the side of North Oracle Road, one man earned drug charges when the officer found paraphernalia in his bag.

On Thursday, June 1, around 12:50 a.m., an OVPD officer noticed a man walking on the wrong side of the road near West Suffolk and North Oracle roads. The officer conducted a traffic stop and told the man he needed to walk against traffic. The man told the officer he was on his way from the River and Oracle area to West Cortaro Farms Road to see his grandmother.

After checking the man and finding no weapons or illicit materials, the officer asked to search the backpack the man had set on the ground. Given permission, the officer discovered a collection of needles consistent with those used with heroin. The officer also found two spoons with residue and cotton.

The man admitted to using the drug, and was arrested for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
