I Just Want to be Loved

UA Area, Jan. 24, 1:30 p.m.

A woman standing outside a dormitory was approached by a man who repeatedly asked for a hug, according to a University of Arizona Police Department report.

The college-age man, who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated, walked up to the woman at the southeast corner of the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St. He sauntered off when his advances were rebuffed.

The woman told police she felt the man may have been a rapist from a physical description she recalled from three years ago.

She said she wasn't scared, but just wanted to report the incident.

I Just Want My Clothes

East Valencia Road and South Park Avenue, Jan. 10, 4:06 p.m.

Deputies responding to reports of a woman attacking a man in front of a house found a separated couple arguing over a pile of clothes in the middle of the street, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.

Deputies tried to separate Amanda Ballesteros and her husband in order to talk to them. However, Ballesteros insisted upon hearing what her husband was saying about her as she and her sister tried to push armfuls of clothes over the wall surrounding a nearby residence, the report said. She was subsequently restrained in a patrol car.

The husband said Ballesteros came over to his house to see him as he was cleaning.

"All of the sudden," the report said, "she was gone, and he realized she had taken all of his clothes from his residence."

The husband claimed he went to Ballesteros' house to retrieve his clothes, and that's when she attacked him. A deputy noted bite and scratch marks on his arms and legs.

Ballesteros insisted that the clothes were hers since she bought them. A deputy informed her how community property works in the state of Arizona. She was booked on two domestic violence charges.

I Just Want to Sing

Benson Highway and Alvernon Way, Jan. 8, 11:06 p.m.

Witnesses phoned authorities after a woman smacked another woman in the head with a karaoke microphone, a PCSD report said.

A woman was reportedly singing at the Palo Verde Bar and Grill, 5801 S. Palo Verde Road, when Anna Marie Lopez tried to wrest the microphone from her hands. When Lopez failed to do so, Lopez allegedly harassed other patrons as the singer continued.

Later, witnesses said, Lopez approached the singer again, snatched the microphone and hit her on the head. The singer suffered a gash on her forehead, and the microphone, valued at $100, was damaged.

Lopez, who deputies said appeared to be intoxicated, said she only wanted to sing karaoke and didn't "touch a soul."

She was cited and released for one count of simple assault and one count of misdemeanor criminal damage.
