Perhaps in anticipation of the dry-scalp-inducing winter—even in the middle of monsoon season—two men tried to shoplift about $50 worth of Head and Shoulders shampoo (plus some Purell) by concealing the bottles in the clothing they wore, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department report.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a Dollar General store on the southwest side, where the assistant manager said she'd seen the two men wandering up and down the hair-care aisle and (she was pretty sure) stuffing numerous bottles of shampoo down their pants and a few up their shirts. They then abruptly left the store, she said, with their pants "bulg(ing)," and walked down the street very quickly. That was allegedly about 10 minutes before law enforcement's arrival.
She found a number of shampoo bottles missing from the shelves and estimated their value at $50.
When deputies reviewed the store's security footage, they saw the men in the aisle but couldn't clearly see them hiding the shampoo in their clothes. It did appear "like they may have had something sticking out of their shirts" as they left the store, but nothing could be ascertained from the video footage alone.
Unfortunately, deputies couldn't find anyone in the area matching the men's description. They took a burned copy of the security video as potential evidence, should any further information come up regarding the incident. Nobody made any guesses as to the men's motive for stealing so much shampoo.
