A man claimed that an estimated 250-300 vehicles parked on and around his property were there for a family gathering--despite extensive evidence that he was hosting a horse race-gambling event, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report said.
Deputies responded to complaints about the noise, dust and traffic snarls caused by the occurrence. They claimed three "young girls" were taking tickets at the door, and that people tried to hide alcohol bottles after noticing the deputies' arrival.
The girls fetched a man, who told authorities he was the brother of the property's owner. He maintained that family members had stopped by to work with their horses.
When deputies asked the man if he had a permit for what appeared to be a commercial event, he said his absent brother had it. He couldn't elaborate any further, the report stated.
Deputies told the man to have his brother contact them, because there were "significant issues with what was occurring on the property."
We Barely Just Met
UA Area, Sept. 21, 10:29 a.m.
According to a University of Arizona Police Department report, a woman was frightened by a clingy stranger, who got on his hands and knees and asked her in front of someone else to "go fool around."
The man struck up a conversation with the woman and a female friend in an elevator. He told the former that she was "really hot," the report stated.
He then waited with the pair outside a room. The woman alleged that he got very close to her on the floor and then made the request.
She said she told him no, and the man left. There was no further information at the time of the report.
Stormy Romance
East Old Vail Connection and South Country Club Roads, Sept. 11, 1:32 a.m.
A woman claimed that out of nowhere, her boyfriend jumped out of her moving van and severely injured his ankle, a PCSD report stated.
The woman said the intoxicated man was hiding at a nearby shed when deputies responded to his home about her call.
She said he jumped out of the van after hitting her during an argument. He then yelled in pain and got back in the vehicle. When she drove him back to his place, he reportedly knocked out two of the van's windows.
Deputies took note of the damage and combed the area around the house for the boyfriend, but they could not find him.
