Re: “Hey, Nonprofits: Need Landscaping?

Point of interest for everyone in Tucson = Primavera Works does everything from landscaping, construction projects for home and business and more. The folks running it are licensed contractors and the workers are men getting back on their feet with the help of this awesome organization. 520-882-9668

Re: “Gov. Brewer Being Called a 'Traitor' by Tea Partiers While Liberals Notice Newfound Respect For Her

I left the Republican party years ago - about the same time I realized I am liberal and a feminist.
The Tea Partiers will each face the age where they begin to have issues requiring medical intervention. While all of us have been encouraged to save for retirement, these delusional individuals best be saving to pay for expensive conditions like heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimers, Dementia, Assisted Living and more. Since they claim to not want Government controlled Health Care they will obviously not use Medicare or Medicaid and I guess they will also return their Social Security Benefits checks.

Re: “So There Might Be An Amy's Baking Company Reality Show, and I Hate Everything About This

I certainly wouldn't watch. However, Amy seems to be the perfect "poster child" for improving mental health care. She quite obviously needs some kind of medication. As for your description - "fucking stupid" - that pretty much sums up most, if not all of these "reality" shows. Andy Warhol would be impressed!!! LOL

Re: “Here's a Terrible Op-Ed Someone Sent Us

1. If the Boy Scouts of America have decided they are a "Christian" organization that excludes certain people due to their sexual orientation, then they are, to my mind, no longer a "non-profit". Instead, they are a private organization not open to all.

2. Being Gay, Bi, Transgendered, or Hetero has nothing to do with morality. Within each group there are a large majority who are very moral in their lives and the usual small percentage which are not. Morality has to do with beliefs, perceptions and behavior.

3. My husband, an Eagle Scout, has written many letters and responded to many emails stating he will no longer have anything to do with the Boy Scouts unless or until they open their organization to all.

Those who seem to feel their particular beliefs are right and science and everyone else are wrong are free to have any organization they want - just not to enjoy non profit status.

Re: “Editor's Note

You're the editor. Your job is to "edit" and "editorialize" and this is, thankfully, an Alt Newspaper. I see nothing wrong with your post. Right on as my Canadian friends say.
Refreshing to see something besides the mainstream media drivel!

Re: “The UA Commencement Ceremony Was Bananas

I disagree that they have reached the end of the road. They are just beginning their journey and while it is not without possible pitfalls and problems, having a college education is a definite plus with regard to jobs and life in general.
Congratulations to all. May your life be filled with wonder and joy.

Re: “Messina

We carry food and water to hand out when we come across a person who is homeless. By the way, there are no homeless people but there are so many who are people without a home. They are people first and "homeless" happens to be their situation at this time. We have to change attitudes - no one ever decided at some point - "Gee, I want to be without a home when I grow up". Life happens and sometimes the result is negative. Congratulations on what you do. The need is huge.
