Paul

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost write and co-star in this funny ode to sci-fi movies and road films. They play two British tourists visiting American UFO sites who stumble upon an alien named Paul (the voice of Seth Rogen) running from the government. Paul jumps in their RV, and they head for his original landing site, with agent types chasing them. Kristen Wiig joins the party as a fundamentalist Christian who manages an RV camp and learns to swear. Jason Bateman, Joe Lo Truglio and Bill Hader are all good as the agents giving chase. This is not as funny as past Pegg/Frost efforts, like Shaun of the Dead, but it’s funny enough, and also quite moving. It’s essentially a love letter to the likes of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, with plenty of pop-culture references and the inclusion of some rather famous sci-fi movie landmarks.

Paul is not showing in any theaters in the area.
