Open Water

Two vacationing scuba divers (Blanchard Ryan and Daniel Travis) are left out in the middle of nowhere when their tour boat leaves them behind. They bicker about who is more to blame for their predicament, putting further strain on their already tense relationship. Then the sharks start to close in. Director Chris Kentis shot with a very low budget and real sharks, with Ryan and Travis wearing mesh protection under their wetsuits to prevent large chunks of their being from being removed. The movie is a terrifying, unpleasant experience, and it is not advised that you take this one in if you’re looking for a good time. Ryan and Travis create characters that pull you into the story. The realness of their work makes the movie all that more hard to take. Watching them suffer is not at all fun. This is a horror film that pulls no punches, and that’s something that doesn’t happen often.
