Noshing Around

Midway Madness

Molina's Midway, 1138 N. Belvedere Ave., has extended its summer promotion of offering items from its original 1953 menu—at the original 1953 price—every Tuesday. We're talking about chicken enchiladas for 45 cents, and 50-cent green chile chimis. The promotion now runs through Dec. 23. It's your chance to get authentic Mexican food that's cheaper and tastier than what that chain with the talking Chihuahua offers.

Haus of Brats

A new food truck is hitting the streets just in time for Oktoberfest. Haus of Brats, a German-food-themed truck, features bratwurst and other favorites from Deutschland. The truck makes its debut at 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Oktoberfest celebration at Many Hands Courtyard, 3054 N. First Ave. Dust off those lederhosen, fill up that bierstiefel and check out the newest addition to Tucson's growing food truck scene.

A Star Reborn

Umi Star, 2502 N. Campbell Ave., is reopening Friday, Oct. 4, with a new menu, specials, a party and, presumably, a blessing from the health department. For those unfamiliar with the situation, the Asian-fusion restaurant got into a little trouble with inspectors after installing equipment that had not been approved by The Man. I've eaten at Umi Star on multiple occasions and can say I enjoyed the experience and look forward to the reopening. For more information, go to umistar.com.

Unplugged

A Harvard study turned up what is considered conclusive evidence that compounds in red wine activate a protein that promotes health and longevity. That being said, the only responsible, and healthy, thing to do is check out the new downtown wine bar Unplugged. Brought to you by the happiness-makers at Wine Depot, the bar promises to offer downtown workers excellent wine without the pesky inconvenience of the commute home and a frantic search for the corkscrew. Unplugged is at 118 E. Congress St. Stop by and get your resveratrol fix. For more info, check out unpluggedtucson.com.
