Metropolitan Grill: America's Kitchen

Metropolitan Grill has reopened with a different name, a revamped menu and a redecorated interior. Paintings by Joe Pagac, the man behind the Rialto Theatre murals, line the walls of what is now Metropolitan Grill: America's Kitchen; artwork by Johnny Vegas of Hi Speed Custom Car Shop brightens up the front door. Expect burgers, wood-fired pizzas, spring lamb, Angus beef and happy-hour prices on drinks all day, every day. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, too. Live music starts at 7 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is located at 7892 N. Oracle Road; 531-1212.

Mini's Cupcakes and Cakes by Ambrosia

Mini's Cupcakes has reopened as Mini's Cupcakes and Cakes by Ambrosia at Casas Adobes Plaza (7051 N. Oracle Road). The front of the store is dedicated to cupcakes; the back of the store is where visitors can order custom cakes by owner Jaynie Rossi's other business, Ambrosia of Tucson. 299-2605.

Dogfish Head Brewery Beer Dinner

Beers by Dogfish Head Brewery highlight a five-course dinner at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at Catalina Barbeque Co. and Sports Bar at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa. The menu features items like a chicken-mole tostada, ginger-butternut-squash soup and a grilled rib eye, and each course is paired with the "off-centered ales for off-centered people" the brewery is known for. It costs $60 (plus tax and gratuity), and a portion of the proceeds will help World War II veterans from Southern Arizona travel to see their memorial in Washington, D.C. Reservations are required; 670-0444.

Last Chance

This is the last chance to take advantage of two great specials ending Sunday, Sept. 5. Kingfisher (2564 E. Grant Road) wraps up its annual Summer Road Trip special with a menu of items from the Deep South. Expect Creole-style, mustard-rubbed lamb chops, bacon-wrapped duck and crawfish étouffée. Entrées range from $17 to $23; appetizers will set you back about $10. 323-7739; www.kingfishertucson.com. This is also the last week for Bluefin Seafood Bistro's Lobsterfeast. For $20.10 you get an entire Maine lobster, steamed rice and sautéed vegetables. We've heard nothing but great reviews of this special, and if you partake of it on Friday there'll be live music, too. 531-8500; www.bluefintucson.com.
