New: San Carlos Grill

The restaurant serves classic breakfast (served all day), soups, burros, soft tacos, chicken molé, enchiladas, steak and seafood dishes; 881-0048.

Rocco's Turns 10

Rocco's Little Chicago celebrates its 10th anniversary throughout December. Stop by for $1 Old Style beer and $10 bottles of cabernet sauvignon; lasagna and other pasta specials will be featured daily. Get a large pizza with your choice of one topping for $10, and try the new homemade apple-pie dessert pizza. Gift certificates, T-shirts and other prizes will be given away on Dec. 31. Frequent-flyer customers will be entered into a drawing for a new 24-speed bicycle, donated by Kalil.

Wine Oh!

There are less than two cases of Paolo Meroi's wines in all of Arizona. These wines are described as crystalline, transparent and flawless in nature. Check out this rare wine-tasting opportunity at VinTabla on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 6 p.m. Salumi and cheese tastes will be served; $30 per person at 2890 E. Skyline Drive. Reservations are required; 577-6210; vintabla.com.

Downtown at Enoteca on Friday Dec. 12, sample five festive wines--and enjoy a holiday surprise--for $5. Join the fun at 58 W. Congress St., from 5 to 7:30 p.m.; 623-0744.

Such a Deal

Look what $5 buys at Terra Cotta: Everyday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the bar, enjoy martinis, well drinks, margaritas or glasses of house wines. The bleu cheese burger with caramelized onions and pancetta, the green chile pork carnitas and other appetizers are only $5, too, at 3500 E. Sunrise Drive; 577-8100.

Iron Chef Contenders

On Sunday, Jan. 18, Chef Albert Hall will defend his title as Tucson's Iron Chef. Now you can help pick his opponent by voting at ironcheftucson.com. The contenders are Odell Baskerville, Arizona Inn; Dakota Likewise, Sullivan's; Ramiro Scavo, Zona 78 and Harvest; Brian Steiner, Gallery Golf Club; and Bruce Yim, VinTabla. Good luck.

Hey ... why are there no women contenders?
