New Owners: Cuvée Bistro

When Mitch Levy opened a second Cuvée World Bistro in Basalt, Colo., I had a feeling that his days in Tucson were numbered. Last week, employees learned that Cuvée is being sold. The new owner is Robert Bossardet, who has corporate food-service experience. For now, the things you love about Cuvée --happy hour, PowerCard, the recipes, the service and manager Kathy Prosser--all remain the same. Cuvee is located at 3352 E. Speedway Blvd.; 881-7577.

Sol Casinos will host the Third Annual Tucson Tamale and Heritage Festival on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at AVA Amphitheater. More than 70 nonprofit organizations and individuals will sell tamales to raise funds for local community causes. There will also be a tamale contest judged in three categories: traditional, green corn and gourmet. First place receives $500, second place $300, and third place $200. Live music, dance, children's activities and art events will happen throughout the day. Visit the Casino Web site for more info.

Tucson Originals News

National umbrella organization Dine Originals recently filed for reorganization, and all local groups around the country have been encouraged to incorporate on their own. The Tucson Originals has incorporated under the name Tucson Independent Restaurant Alliance and will continue to do business as the Tucson Originals; meanwhile, Originals throughout the country will continue to network, share resources and promote the importance of dining locally. The popular quarterly gift-certificate sale will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6. A limited supply of gift certificates to member restaurants can be purchased for 30 to 40 percent off. Wake up early and head to the Tucson Originals Web site. New officers for 2008 are Todd Hanley (general manager of Hotel Congress), president; Doug Levy (Feast), vice president; Jonathan Landeen (Jonathan's Tucson Cork), treasurer; Stephanie Heckman (Intermezzo), secretary; and Alice Mazon (Papagayo Mexican Restaurant) and Jim Murphy (Kingfisher and Bluefin), board members.
