Vegetarian Kielbasa
Vegetarian restaurant Lovin' Spoonfuls, located at 2990 N. Campbell Ave., has sent out Tucson's first cart selling totally meatless kielbasa. The cart is located at the downtown library plaza, on the corner of Stone Avenue and Pennington Street, weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cart operator is like a character right off of the streets of New York, with boundless enthusiasm and charm. The cart offers kielbasa and spicy Italian sausage, served on organic buns. Customers can choose from an assortment of condiments along with chips, natural sodas and vegan chocolate chip cookies.
French Connection
Tucson's own French singing lovebirds, Marianne Dissard and Naim Amor, will perform on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Le-Delice, where baguettes are made from scratch. The free shows begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., but dinner reservations are highly recommended; 7245 E. Tanque Verde Road; 290-9714. A second show is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Tomatoes for Disney
Willcox-based Eurofresh Farms, a year-round producer of pesticide-free greenhouse grown tomatoes, has joined with Disney Studios to market their produce through DVD releases of several major family videos nationwide. Materials were included in the Walt Disney release of Peter Pan, and will be inserted into the upcoming Ratatouille release for the holiday season. Visit www.eurofresh.com for all things tomato.
Tequila Festival
On Saturday, Aug. 18, Miguel's at La Posada hosts a tequila-tasting event from 5 to 10 p.m. The cost of $25 per person includes a tasting featuring 18 varieties of tequila, two house margaritas and an all-you-can-eat buffet of barbacoa, pork adobo and chicken tinga, plus raffle prizes and a live DJ.
