New: Rockin' Baja

What was formerly Grandy's restaurant at Kolb Road and Broadway Boulevard now has been transformed into Rockin' Baja Lobster, a small but growing franchise of Baja-inspired restaurants operated by local businessmen Rod Barreda and Kenneth McGovern. Menu items include an all-you-can-eat Caesar salad and salsa bar, buckets of seafood, grilled carne asada, tequila lime shrimp, lobster taquitos and s'mores sundaes. Rockin' Baja Lobster is at 7131 E. Broadway Blvd.; 721-BAJA (2252); open daily from 4 p.m.

100 Wines by the Glass

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar recently announced the 2006 Fleming's 100--an annual list of 100 wines by the glass, boasting the best vintages from around the globe, and including offerings from the world's flourishing wine regions and hard-to-find selections from small but celebrated wineries. For the complete list, visit the Web site. Fleming's is located at 6360 N. Campbell Ave.; 529-5017.

Cool Desert Dessert

Sabino Canyon is many things to many people, but raise your hand if you think of ice cream while there. Nonetheless, Shamrock Farms has named a new ice cream flavor "Sabino Canyon Neapolitan" to honor the Tucson destination. Neapolitan is a creamy triple treat of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream that can be found at Fry's and Bashas'.

On Broadway

I mistakenly said previously that In-n-Out was going up in front of Robinsons-May at the El Con Mall. That was wrong; it's actually going up on the corner of Broadway and Dodge boulevards, nearer to Claim Jumper and in front of Target. The other rapidly growing structure at Randolph Way will house a Starbucks, plus two or three other retail stores (even though there's already a Starbucks inside Target). Further west, on the northwest corner of Broadway and Campbell Avenue, another Starbucks will be brewing soon.

RA Rah Fundraiser

A few weeks ago, 10 RA Sushi restaurants held a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Nicky Mailliard, who died from brain cancer. They raised an impressive $77,000. Tucson's RA is located at 2905 E. Skyline Drive; 615-3970.
