Philanthropy With Phlavor

Every June and October, Pastiche Modern Eatery offers diners an opportunity to donate 5 percent of the check to their favorite registered 501(c)3 charity. To date, they have donated more than $45,000. Any charity that earns more than $10 has the option of taking the 5 percent in cash or doubling that amount in donated gift certificates for silent auctions and giveaways. For the past two years, Pastiche has received the Arizona Restaurant and Hospitality Association's "Good Neighbor Award" for their commitment to Philanthropy With Phlavor. Support a local restaurant and your favorite charity at 3025 N. Campbell Ave, 325-3333.

Chefs Dance Around St. Philip's Plaza

Meanwhile, John Mertes, formerly of Ovens, departed to Miguel's on Oracle Road. (To further stir the pot, Mertes was the sous chef at Hacienda Del Sol under Albert Hall.) Jeff Fuld, formerly of Daniel's but soon to be Parallel 32 (formerly Ovens), will open as the new executive chef. And at Vivace's, according to Daniel Scordato, business is good, as usual.
