White Merlot

That's not a typo or a blush wine. White merlot debuts at the new Charron Vineyards in Vail on Dec. 1. But one has to wonder about being color-blind when thinking and drinking wine. Would you drink red chardonnay? Look at white chocolate; it's always been the stepchild for milk and dark chocolate. Stay tuned for specifics and to see how white merlot is positioned in the marketplace.

Hay Long Bay Restaurant

Opening Nov. 1, this new Vietnamese restaurant features soothing tropical décor in the El Mercado Shopping Center at Broadway Boulevard and Wilmot Road.

Trick or Treat

If you're not staying home to pass out miniature candy bars to the monsters, head to Pastiche Modern Eatery in costume and receive a free Halloween dessert with your dinner.

Equal Time Equal Beer

Doesn't anyone drink beer in this town? Almost every night, some wine and food pairing event occurs, but what about finely crafted beer and gourmet grub events? Think beyond the Budweiser and if anything happens, Noshing wants to know.

Celebrate Xoom Juice's 2nd Anniversary

Xoom Juice shows its appreciation to past, present and future customers by offering two anniversary specials: Buy any smoothie for $2, or buy one smoothie and get the second one free on Sunday, Nov. 2. Started by Tucson local Ari Shapiro, Xoom's flavors are derived from pure fruit and 100 percent fruit juice with no sugar, corn syrup or sweetened sorbet added. Check out www.xoomjuice.com for the store nearest you.

Be Wowed

Locally owned Keva Juice (www.kevajuice.com) opens its second store at the El Mercado Shops next to Ha Long Bay. Their mission is to "wow" every customer on every visit. That's pretty lofty standards for a juice bar--or any business. We'll see if they succeed?
