Caffé Diva (East)

Recently opened at 7865 E. Broadway Blvd. at Pantano Road, Caffé Diva serves freshly baked quiche, bagels and baklava along with colorful salads and house-made dressings. (The pickled ginger vinaigrette on the Homer salad excited my jaded palate.) On Sept. 22, KTKT 990 AM will host a grand-opening remote from 7 to 9 a.m. Come on down for free coffee and quiche. 296-9922.

Where Chocolate Meets Technology

Now all you lizards can take your sweet tooth on a wild joy ride at the Something Sweet Dessert Lounge, located at 5319 E. Speedway Blvd. Indulge in cakes, pies, apple dumplings, tiramisu tortes and Turkish hot cocoa while wiling away the hours with high-speed Internet access. Open Tuesday to Sunday. Call 881-7735 or check out www.somethingsweet-dl.com.

De-lite-ful

Move over, Subway; you're no longer the only game in town with low-fat fare. Ghini's French Caffé's new De-lites menu adds four sandwiches and three salads with five grams of fat or less. Ghini's also bakes French baguettes daily. Located at 1803 E. Prince Road. 326-9095.

Shabu Shabu

Coming soon: a new concept of healthy Japanese fare, where diners cook their own meat or seafood in individual pots of broth. The restaurant currently under construction at River Center (River and Craycroft roads) should be open in November, owners hope. Supposedly, the word shabu comes from the sound made as the meat and seafood gently swish through the broth.

Fame, fortune and KFC

You might not be a fan of KFC's popcorn chicken, but if you can create and submit a reality TV commercial by Sept. 23, you have a chance to win $10,000 and a one-time primetime network airing of your commercial. How cool is that? Details at www.kfc.com.
