Rhino Pub Returns
After stints as Belushe's, Victory Bar and Gooch's Grill, the building at 1118 E. Sixth St. is once again Rhino Pub, the name it operated under as far back as the 1980s. New owner Steve Ketchum says he's pared the menu down to pub-grub basics like burgers, sausages and appetizers, and that he's turning the upstairs area into a café specializing in coffee, energy drinks, juices, tea and pastries. There are 19 beers on tap, a full bar and a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., daily. Sundays bring sports action galore and specials on Bloody Marys and hot wings. Pajamas and Eggs
The Good Egg at 5055 N. Oracle Road offers a rare opportunity to partake of their breakfast offerings for dinner, from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, to help raise money and gather pajamas for kids in foster care. Those who attend are encouraged to wear pajamas, and are asked to donate another pair of unused PJs to the Arizona's Children Association. Chili Cook-Off
Posada Java, the café at La Posada (350 E. Morningside Road, Green Valley) hosts a charity chili cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 9. Contestants start at 7 a.m., stirring up 5-gallon batches, followed by judging and tasting at 11 a.m. All entries must be cooked from scratch, and will be judged for flavor and appearance. Awards will be given to the judges' and crowd favorites, and there's even a "Chili Spirit" award for presentation. Admission is $5, and includes samples. Proceeds benefit the Green Valley Fire Corps; 648-7870.
World Margarita Championship
More details are emerging about this year's World Margarita Championship. Secret judging is no more, and instead will take place center stage, with ongoing commentary as mixologists from 14 locally owned restaurants show their skills. Food will be provided by some of the city's finest eateries, and is included in the $35 ticket price. The competition—one of several events featured at the Tucson Culinary Festival—takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28, at Maynards Market and Kitchen (400 N.
