58 Degrees, the Sequel
Last week, a scaled-down 58 Degrees and Holding Co. opened at St. Philip's Plaza (4280 N. Campbell Ave., No. 27) in the former Adobe Wine Deli. Nicolas Mills, who previously was the sommelier at the Ventana Room, is the new manager; 529-2020. We also heard a wild rumor yet to be confirmed that 58 Degrees is considering turning the former Ovens Restaurant into a chic lounge and wine bar.
Slow Food Film Festival
Mark your calendars for Jan. 13-15 for the first weekend event devoted to classic food films, foodie celebrities, culinary events and cultural discussions. For the schedule and prices, check out www.slowfoodtucson.org.
Gourmet Hanukkah Takeout
We have never been able to master the fine art of latke (potato pancake); this year, Feast Tasteful Takeout can do the honors. The caveat is you must pre-order the food by Dec. 20, and then can pick it up on Dec. 24. Hanukkah starts Dec. 25. Choices include latkes, brisket with root vegetable tsimmes, noodle kugel with raisins and more. Call 326-9363 for specifics and to order.
Closed
Livorno's Italian Bistro on Oracle is closed. Why? Could be the location; it's an odd one. Also closing soon is Romi's Mexican Food on South Sixth Avenue and Wild Wings and Other Things on Speedway Boulevard.
