Sunflower Blooms
A second Sunflower Market opens Nov. 9 on the northwest corner of Speedway Boulevard and Swan Road in the former IGA. Sunflower's principal owners, Mike Gilliland and Libby Cook, were the founders of Wild Oats. Sunflower sells "serious food at silly prices."
Twenty-Three Awards of Excellence
In celebration of its recently announced 23 Awards of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine (August 2004), Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is hosting a best-of-the-best wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10. Mesquite Muffins
Tucson Community Food Bank hosts the second annual mesquite milling along with the farmers market from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 9. A legume, mesquite pods are high in fiber and protein. Bring your own pods for milling, or purchase mesquite flour and taste delicious mesquite baked goods. There's a free pumpkin patch, too, at 3003 S. Country Club Road.
Sly Like a Fox
Fox Concepts Restaurants has a lot going on: Sauce on Oracle Road took over the Vaneer Gallery, and expansion should be completed by the end of December; NoRTH's new menu items celebrate Italian comfort food kissed with artisan touches such as romaine hearts salad featuring creamy parmesan vinaigrette and lemon parmesan biscotti, veal chop Florentine, pasta Bolognese and more.
