Noshing Around

Update

Café Poca Cosa's benefit to raise money for San Miguel's devastated hurricane victims raised a whopping $40,000. Bravo to Susana Davila and her savvy restaurant crew.

Rip-Roaring New Year's Eve

At Hifalutin, you can order either a 10-ounce prime rib or a grilled pesto salmon dinner for $17.95. The price includes a dinner salad and a margarita. Now that's a rootin'-tootin' deal. Located at 6780 N. Oracle Road, 297-0518, reservations suggested.

Chef Dance

Albert Hall, executive chef for Hacienda Del Sol for the last seven years, is moving to Miguel's at La Posada Lodge and Casitas (formerly Clifford Manor) as of January 2004--while Jason Jonilonis, executive chef for Westward Look Resort, is moving to Hacienda Del Sol. So who is replacing Jonilonis?

Drink Responsibly

If you feel too drunk to drive, don't. Ask the bartender to call a taxi.

Feast Expansion Near Completion

Voted best takeout and tied for first-place in the catering category for Best of Tucson ® 2003, the Feast Tasteful Takeout is expanding its cozy interior to include a bar, more tables, more products and a community table for solo diners. Celebrate the year's end with the last Sunday-of-the-month wine tasting, featuring elegant cuvee red blends. Wine tasting includes gourmet snacks on Dec. 28 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 4122 E. Speedway Blvd., 326-9363 for reservations. Cost is $30.

Bun-less Burger

Fast-food giant Carl's Jr. is trying to feed the 32 million Americans on some kind of carbohydrate-reduced diet with a $6 bunless burger wrapped in lettuce containing only six grams of carbs. I wonder if they copied the idea from In-n-Out Burger, who has been serving the lettuce-wrapped burgers to those in the know for years.
