Re: “Media Watch

TV news outlets protecting their own, that's what is going on. Local Channel 9 news director Forrest Carr's explanation doesn't cut it. He says, "It gives the impression that the report might be motivated, in whole or in part, by a desire to make a competitor look bad. Ethical news reporting does not allow hidden agendas, real or perceived." First, this IS news and the community needs to know. It is NOT motivated to make a competitor look bad. In truth, it's a Quid Pro Quo thing....un unspoken statement to the competitor stations declaring that if you don't run a story involving one of our own employees, we won't either. Nice cover up. And did Carr say "ethical reporting does not allow hidden agendas"? So why didn't KGUN run this story?

Re: “Media Watch

Tucson currently has a radio station for almost (again ... almost) every genre. The one that's blatantly missing is PROGRESSIVE TALK! Why can't a station find sponsors for progressive content? I know I would tune in along with a whole lot of other folks.

Re: “Downing

I've got to agree with the prior poster. Adobe PS has a difficult learning curve and I find that I'm having to constantly go to Google and You Tube for tips. However, my feeling is that there's a HUGE opportunity being missed. If developers can find a way to take programs that are inherently complex and really find a way to simplify their use, then I'm on board with that.

Re: “Update on Grijalva 'Hit Piece': Who Is Carlos Sierra?

I'm voting for Grijalva. Way too many have the perception that our representatives are islands onto themselves and their bidding is done when they wave their wand up on the hill. They are not kings, what they stand for is not automatic. Instead they must navigate the often complex paths to first sponsor a bill, to gain others that will support it, and to ultimately get it out of committee and onto the floor for a vote. Given the rabid nature of tea baggers and "blue dog" Dems, it's tough, really tough to get anything done. As Democrats we need to restore the House back to the Dems, real Democrats that will work with President Obama to get the country moving forward. Grijalva knows the game and plays it well. I'm not so sure about Aguirre.

Re: “Media Watch

This station needs to establish a schedule, put the word out (advertise) and stick to it. Personally, I like Stephanie Miller and I really like the Ed Shultz show. I don't understand the criticism of the comedy line-up...I enjoyed it. My recommendation:
5-6 a.m. Give the airtime to a Tucson based independent business owner to chat about their business. 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Stephanie Miller, 9 a.m. to noon Ed Shultz, noon to 4 p.m. let the comedians have at it. 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (the drive time hour) belongs to prominent Tucsonans that have a vision of what our community should look like in 10 years. Between 6 p.m. I wouldn't mind a reply on the Ed Schultz show.

Re: “President Shelton: 'I Leave the UA Proud of What it Stands for and What it Means to Arizona's Future'

The real test of a committed and resourceful university president is to help the institution that he serves to weather the economic storm that is now upon us. To you, Dr. Shelton, I am disappointed. A year and a half ago, the TUSD president did the same thing...jumped ship when it got really tough.
