No Scissors

Staying in shape doesn't always take priority in our lives. While watching Netflix, sitting in the breeze of the swamp cooler, it's easy to ponder, "If only there were a way I could make working out more like a party." On Saturday, May 30, downtown Tucson will be transformed into a runner's block party with the Meet Me Downtown 5k Run. Participants of all ages will run, or walk, a 3.1 mile course starting and ending at the Tucson Children's Museum, 200 S. Sixth Ave. A children's mile race will begin at 6:30 p.m. which is free to children 12 and under and $25 for adults. The 5k begins at 7 p.m. and is only available to runners who have pre-registered. Online registration is available until Thursday, May 28, at azroadrunners.org. For individuals, registration costs $30. People can register as late as the night of at the Children's Museum. While the event promotes healthy lifestyle and running, there is plenty of fun to be had with live concerts by local bands including The Missing Parts and LeeAnn Savage, throughout the course. A beer garden will be available for participants 21 and over from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Hotel Congress will host the after party. For more details on the event, visit azroadrunners.org.
