Matt Baquet

Matt Baquet is a busy man. He's at the helm of Jalph.net, an independent local arts and culture website. On Saturday nights, he's DJing on Club Congress' patio, where he also books touring and local acts to perform. Matt also plays the drums for two of Tucson's finest rock bands, Dream Sick and Prom Body.

What was the first concert you attended?

Brother Marquis from 2 Live Crew but the funny thing is, he was on a born again Christian kick at the time, touring with a conservative rapper called LG Wise. I'm pretty sure Brother Marquis went back to the dark side since then ...

What are you listening to these days?

Destruction Unit, Blood Orange, Weed and Weird Womb.

What was the first album you owned?

The first CD I ever purchased with my own money was Baha Men's Who Let the Dogs Out?I was 9 years old at the time, and I still have it to this day ... Judge me if you want.

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?

Miley Cyrus, I don't even think she's hot.

What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?

Bad Brains, Snoop and Dre, Kraftwerk, and The Replacements come to mind.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Probably Drake, but I'm not ashamed. I just always find myself defending my love for him and trying to justify his greatness.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

"Guilty Cubicles" by Broken Social Scene and/or "Untitled #4 (the Nothing Song)" by Sigur RÓs.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Sigur RÓs, Takk
