Nate Jasensky

Nate Jasensky is a Tucson native, a lifelong musician, a guitarist, a recording engineer, a music teacher and an all-around musical prostitute. He currently leads the band Faster Than Light, which Jasensky says belongs to the "Huh?" genre. Faster Than Light will fete the release of their new album, Moment of Chaos, with a show at Solar Culture on Saturday, Feb. 19.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Some goofy metal show at Skrappy's way back when.

What are you listening to these days?

Glenn Gould, the Donnie Darko soundtrack, Shearwater, and Gentle Giant.

What was the first album you owned?

If we count tapes, Michael Jackson, Thriller. First CD: The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?

KFMA FM 92.1. Modern country. The folk re-re-re-revival.

What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?

Genesis with Peter Gabriel, 1973.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

Isaac Albéniz, "Mallorca."

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Zappa Zappa Zappa. Rules are for the birds.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Cheesy, but it's The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. First, and still my favorite.
