Nine Questions

Matt Henry, 41, is a native Tucsonan who lives and works downtown. He has been playing punk rock for about 12 years and is currently a singer and guitarist in the band Dirteater. He works in the office of the Pima County Clerk of the Superior Court.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Foreigner at the Tucson Convention Center, '80 or '81. Still, to this day, one of the worst concerts I have ever seen.

What are you listening to these days?

Anti-Flag, Riverboat Gamblers, Alkaline Trio and Green Day, to name a few.

What was the first album you owned?

Metallica, Kill 'Em All, from Columbia Record and Tape Club.

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?

I do not like (or get) the White Stripes or any of their associated bands.

What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?

Slayer, circa 1986.

Musically speaking, what is your favorite guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure would be speed metal. Get a few drinks in me, and I'm back in the late '80s/early '90s, moshing with my friends.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

I would like to have Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Mak'er" played at my funeral.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

The band that was the most influential to me and changed how I viewed music was the Supersuckers. They inspired me to pick up a guitar and shift my focus from metal to punk.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Supersuckers, The Smoke of Hell.
