Nine Questions

Kat Takach is a mountain-bike-racer-turned-equestrian. You can spot her cruising Fourth Avenue on her BMX bike on her way to work at The Coyote Wore Sideburns, where she has worked for 14 years. She has been a hairdresser for 25 years.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

The Knack, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

DeVotchKa, Lil Wayne, Built to Spill and Bob Dylan.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Hardly any. Maybe 60 CDs.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

No downloads. I'm low-tech, so word o' mouth keeps new sounds coming.

What was the first album you owned?

Fleetwood Mac, Rumours.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

No funeral, please--how about the sound of critters crunching my bones? Ha!

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

Shakira, and Jose Saavedra Iguina.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Buzzcocks taught me about maintaining speed and upping the pace. I got to moan and groan along with the Smiths and Bauhaus, and danced to Infected Mushroom and DJ Tiësto.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

John Lydon, Psycho's Path suits me to a tee.
