Nine Questions

Proud Piscean Margaret Ford is the once and (possibly) future bassist of local indie guitar-pop band Shoebomb, as well as several other bands that "exist purely in the minds of the musicians." Though she pays the bills by working as a licensed massage therapist, she is a hellion on the soccer field and would like you to know she bakes a mean brownie. She is currently re-reading Tropic of Cancer, by Henry Miller.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

A Rolling Stones cover band with my uncle and cousin in Massachusetts. The first one I paid for was Billy Idol, I think.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Primus, Sailing the Seas of Cheese; Mum, Finally We Are No One; Cat Power, Moon Pix; Spoon, Kill the Moonlight; Prince and the Revolution, Parade

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Four hundred, give or take 63.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

I don't. No, no iPod. Now I'm embarrassed. I'm still getting over the loss of vinyl-sized artwork.

What was the first album you owned?

I hijacked my mother's Beatles albums around the age of 7. When I was very small, I could only identify their records by the sticker in the middle--I would get really excited when I'd see the apple spinning around the turntable.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

"Sing a Song," Earth Wind & Fire.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I do own a Boz Scaggs album. Shhh, don't tell anyone.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Really all of them, right? But for this, I'd have to answer with The Pixies, because Kim Deal is who inspired me to pick up the bass guitar.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Jeez, Steve. This is a hard question! OF ALL TIME? All right, then it's The White Album.
